Welcome to Housatonic Community College from the Financial Aid Office!

Our goal is to guide you through the financial aid process at Housatonic Community College. We are a part of the State of Connecticut Community College System, we provide access to higher education at an outstanding value. Annual tuition at HCC is a fraction of the cost compared to public and private universities. We understand that funding your education can be overwhelming at times for you and your family, but our office is here to help ease some of the worry.

What is Financial Aid?

Financial aid comes in the form of federal, state, institutional, and private fund(s) used to assist eligible students in funding their education. Financial aid can be a combination of grants, federal work-study, and federal loans. The amount and type of aid you receive will depend upon your family’s income, assets and household size.

How to apply and what’s next?

Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) soon enables us to determine your eligibility for federal and state need-based financial aid.

  • If you have not done so, please complete the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 FAFSA application.
  • Attached is a step-by-step “Applying for Financial Aid” brochure and a brochure on how to track your financial aid on the myCommNet portal.
  • We display your most recent application status and award information in your student portal also known as myCommNet (http://my.commnet.edu).
*To be eligible for Financial Aid, you must have chosen a major on your admissions application, (Please follow up with HCC’s Admissions Office, if you have not done this).

In order to provide you with timely responses regarding your financial aid application, we correspond to you via your college assigned e-mail address http://supportcenter.ct.edu/service/Office365_email.asp. It is important to regularly check your email for messages from our office and other departments.

We are available Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm to answer your questions. If you are on campus, you may visit us in Lafayette Hall, room L111 or call us at 203-332-5047.
